Hurricane Harps harmonicas are great harmonicas designed to get players started with high quality harps at a reasonable price. This is a 12 hole 48 reed chromatic harmonica in the key of C. They feature solid brass reedplates, ABS combs and sturdy chrome plated cover plates. They play and feel like other brands costing twice the price. It includes a beautiful rosewood style wooden case. Also available in 7 and 12 key diatonic sets in attractive zippered cases.

I've played harmonica for many years. This chromatic harp is ok for the price, but if you're a beginner, this one may discourage you into giving it up altogether. This model is more difficult to play than most because it is not well built. There are three major problems I found with mine - two manufacturing and one design: 1) A few of the windsavers were not glued properly, so they are warped and do not seal correcly. The result is that it requires a lot of breath to play some notes, and those notes sound very weak and "windy". 2) The tuning is not very accurate. This is especially noticable on the C notes. A C chromatic harmonica has two identical C notes side-by-side, one pair for each octave. If you slip and play both adjacent C's at the same time, the tuning error is very obvious - it sounds like an automobile horn. 3) Although this is a 3-octave harmonica, it is only useable in roughly a 2-octave range. The very low notes of the first octave and very high notes of the third octave are not well designed and are difficult to play and have a poor tone. As long as you stay in the midddle of the range of the instrument, it's ok.
If you're a beginner, I'd recommend you start with a diatonic C or G harmonica (Hohner is a good choice) to learn, and then later invest the $100-$200 needed to get a good quality chromonica. However, if you're looking for an inexpensive knock-around chromonica that you don't plan to play in public, this one will do. Especially if you like taking them apart and treaking them (this one will probably need treaking right out of the box - mine did).
